Of course your boss can call you at home. Why not? If you made mistakes in your work product, he wants you to know about it.

Also, wouldn't you rather he call you at home, instead of telling you at work, where your co-workers, know that you were "called on the carpet," for mistakes.

He saved you from being humiliated at work.

There is no law against it. He did you a favor - get over it - and next time, be more careful doing your job.

Stop making mistakes and he will stop calling, or better yet let him know next time he calls if it is not an emergency to talk with you the next day at work. Have you heard of caller ID? Use it and the problem is solved!!!

Nope, not at all. My boss calls me at home frequently.

Constantly calling you at home only to complain about your performance is bad form, though. I'd be looking for a better job or at least a different boss!

It's legal to call. My boss did it all the time. Too bad we don't have a DO-NOT-CALL set up for working calling you at home.

You can call anyone, it's not illegal.

If you don't like your boss not resticting work between the hours of 9-5, go to HR.

If they say working past 5 is part of the job and you don't like it, quit the job.

It's not illegal unless it constitutes harrassment. If you want to keep your job, don't answer the phone (assuming you have caller ID--if not get it) and then tell you noticed he called you at home and ask him what he wanted. Discuss the issue with him at work and he might not call you again at home. Still, don't answer his calls at home.

Yes there is, they are not allowed to call you at your home on your off time and discuss work matters. you need to see a lawyer about this if he doesnt stop

Not if its the only way of contacting you. There are no laws to prevent an employer to call your home/cell or any other personal phone. You just have to ask him/her to stop or deal with it.

Is he calling you just to tell you about your mistakes? Probably not illegal as long it doesn't become harassment. Extremely lousy management practice! Are you confident and secure enough in your job to ask him to stop?
