If the United States is so perfect and so fair then why don't people have equal rights?? Gays should be able to marry!! "Every man is created equal" Yeah right..... The whole thing about God not wanting it is bull for three reasons:
1) You can't help who you fall in love with!!
2)God doesn't have time to worry about who is getting married and who they love!!
3)God loves everyone and he didn't even write the Bible!! (The bible was written by his "followers" and they added things to it they they "thought" he wanted, and no I am not making that up.)

Also,

I'm not gay.

You're so right! Gays don't have equal rights because they can't marry each other!

And while we're at it, how about it for all the pedophiles, bigamists, polygamists, incest committers, and those who are prone to bestiality -- because all of them are prohibited from marrying the objects of their sexual desires!

Three cheers for the idea that "marriage rights" should encompass any and all sexual desires whatsoever!

And to hell with the fact that 45 out of 50 states have laws specifically defining marriage as a man-woman union. Who in the hell needs respect for the democratic process, anyway?

Hey Ktown,

The US is by far not fair, and people are not created equal (by US standards). There is obvious proof of this all around, so I won't bore you with examples.

The US has a so called separation of church and state, so biblical factors should not be a reason for Gays and lesbians not being able to be married in the US.

As for the bible, as you stated, it was written by man. The only rules that are "written in stone" are the Ten Commandments.

Should gays be allowed to marry? Personally, I don't give a ****. I am too busy looking for my own husband.

This is a representative republic and we are governed by the laws that people make around us.

Have you ever been guaranteed that life is going to be fair? I know I never was guaranteed that.

The majority of Americans currently don't want gay marriage. I couldn't friggin' give two craps if gays ever get married or don't. I won't march for or against it. I won't vote for or against it. I'm not touching that one with a 25 foot pole.

Seriously, though... the USA doesn't need gay marriage to be fair. Some states have it like Hawaii and MA, and other's won't tolerate it.

I do think that they should be able to get civil unions, but marriage is a religious thing. I know that in some countries, priests get fined for refusing to do gay marriages. Freedom has got to be a two way street. If some religions want to marry gays, so be it. Honestly, who cares?

:-)

The USA rocks with or without it. If you're gay and want to get married, move to Hawaii or MA, or try to get it passed in your state. If something is worth having, it's worth fighting for.

Someone once wrote that the great thing about American isn't that everyone is treated equally, but that everyone has the opportunity to receive equal treatment. Throughout American history minorities have been oppressed, but they have all been able to get their equal rights in due time. Is it right that homosexuals have to go through all this crap to get married? Hell no. But the Constitution was written so that we can get these rights eventually.

Because the powers-that-be believe you are equal as long as you believe what they believe.

1)True, you can't help who you fall in love with
2) God is concerned with whether or not you love others and love Him.
3) True, God did not write the Bible. This is a key point that many people choose to ignore.

I agree. Homosexuals should have the right to marry under the law. Unfortunately, the vast majority of Americans do not seem to agree. Otherwise, they would not keep voting into office conservatives who are doing everything in their power to make life miserable for those who live an alternative lifestyle. BTW, it has been proven that homosexuality is something that happens in the womb. It is not a lifestyle choice.

Also, I am not gay.

your partially right. Our country is not as free as people depict it to be. No country ever will be, because there are so many details and such to work around.

I just have one arguement on number two... How do you know what God has time to worry about? God does love everyone, but being gay is still a sin, but, it is just like every other sin. Every sin is equal... So I believe we need to stop singling out one group until we've all worked out our own sins.

no one ever said the USA is perfect, but comparatively speaking we are dame good.I really don't see what the big deal is. just like a person has the right to be gay a person also has the right to not to like the fact that your gay including the us government and any state their of.I don't agree with the whole gay thing but you can't help how you feel no more then i can help the fact that iam black so if two men or two women want to get hitched that's there business but don't expect any body to like it they haven't been liking black folks for 400 years and counting being different in a crime

Did anyone know that there are buddhists in the United States? Jews? Muslims? Hindus? Spiritualists? Wiccans? Do you ever hear people make the torah or the quraan their excuse to slam gay marriage? The bible is always used in heterosexuals terminology. I think the government needs to debate about homosexual marriage, WITHOUT using the words: god, bible, heaven, or hell. See how far they get without that!

You're an adolescent in a classroom, suddenly the crush who your world revolves around, asks you to be in their group and the feeling in your gut erupts as the butterflies consume you. You're in love? No your acknowledge.

You've just had you're first one night stand with the girl who said she'll never leave you. Watching her go suddenly you're longing for another session and your mind is quickly catching up with this feeling and creating perverse images in your mind. Is it love? No, it's lust you want to be staisfied once again by a girl who you can't see living the rest of you're life with.
