Use positive affirmations. Make a list of good things about you and read it every day. Tell yourself that you love yourself and God loves you, too. You are a worthwhile person. You are good at ____ (fill in the blank). Each day look in the mirror and point out something good about yourself. Avoid negative people. Eventually you will start to believe it. The more you believe in yourself the more you will succeed in life and the more others will also believe in you.

Confidence in yourself builds your self-esteem or your ego and that's good.
To build confidence is to believe in yourself, and that comes with over coming obstacles that life hands us, or it could be your college degree, climbing a mountain, doing your best in your job and being acknowledged for it by others. Which brings me to the next building block and that is validation from others.
When we are validated for our feelings, our accomplishments, and things we do it builds our confidence and nourishes our self-esteem, though people don't do this for one another because our society has become a selfish one. It's all about me-me-me.
Think about that. Think about how you can build confidence in a child who wants to excel and feel good about himself or herself, then you will see what you need.
Find what you do best and extend yourself to others through kindness and good will and your confidence will rise.
Never lose site of who you are and what you can do, and it will come back to you "10" fold.

You start by believing in yourself first. How can you do that? You list down things you are good at and you take pride on those things. It is okay to be proud of one capabilities as long as one do not end up boastful about them.

Know that you are special. That you are not created in any way lesser than all the people on this earth.

Love yourself. As long as you love yourself and as long as you know who you are within, then having confidence will already be such an easy thing to do.

By doing what you want to do. Don't go crazy, you shouldn't sin or go against the bible but just stop worrying about if everyone likes you. If they don't okay. If they do great, hangout, be friends, go do something. Just have fun with life and your confidence will soar.

The older I get, the more confident I get. So for me, I guess it's related to maturity level....I don't really care too much what people think anymore. It's nice!

For specific things though (ie...public speaking, exams, etc) being well prepared really helps...practice, practice, practice....
