I started wearing mascara in grade 7. My mom thought that was modest. She said I couldn't wear eyeliner until Grade 10. And so that was ok with me. For the most part, buying a good mascara (like Almay) which has vitamins, is really good for your eyelashes - because they aren't washed like hair with shampoo. As for what to say, I'm not really sure. I never asked my mom, she just came right out, and said that it was time I should be allowed to wear it. Maybe you should ask your mom why she doesn't want you to wear make-up. Maybe understanding her reasons will help you understand her intentions. If her reasons however, are really unreasonable, state your intentions. Why do you want to wear make-up??? To be able to wear make up, you should be comfortable with who you are without makeup first. My friend told me that. If you aren't comfortable with the real you (without makeup) then maybe it's not the time to start wearing makeup just yet. But for the most part, lip gloss is a really awesome item of make-up, and I'm sure you look gorgeous even without make-up on!

If you can wear eye makeup without over doing it, you are not too young but thick black eyeliner doesn't look good on any age.
Eyeline and mascara are only bad if they block your tear duct so be careful about that and if your mom does allow you to wear it, make sure you wash it off every night.
Sounds to me like you have a very caring mom, you should listen to her. Young girls who wear a minimum of makeup and light lip gloss look clean and fresh and intelligent. If you are young, enjoy your youth and the less makeup you wear, the prettier you will be.
PS: One person answered that she wore make-up even though her mother would not allow it. Don't do that. You want your mom to trust you and if you lie to her or hide what you're doing, she won't be able to trust you.
Another person said that you will look bad when you're older if you wear make-up now. Not true, if you wash you make-up off every night and use a moisturizer even at your young age. Noxzema is a good one for you. Every time you go to bed without washing your make-up off, your face ages 10 days. As for having problems with acne later if you wear make-up now, again not necessarilly true if you're prone to acne, it isn't the make-up and it's also not because you don't wash your face, some very clean people have acne.

I'm a fairly conservative mother, but allowed my daughter to wear makeup when she was 15. Before that, she was allowed to wear just lip gloss. I think you're old enough for eyeliner, mascara, maybe blush and lipstick if you need it.
Talk to your mom and see if you can't work together to come up with a look that's flattering for you, without making you look older than you are. You sound like a mature young lady, and I think she just needs to see that you're not going to go to school looking cheap or much older than you are. Maybe you can both go to a department store together and let a professional do some makeup on you, so she can see how it looks. Good luck! I'm sure you'll work this out together.

Hey, I've been able to wear makeup since the 7th grade. I choose not to wear it though because it ruins my skin and takes a lot of time to manage.
See, my mother is the ruin-your-face-if-you-want-to kind. She gives me the option of wearing makeup, heels, dye my hair, etc. All this and I'm only 14!
Ask yourself the following questions:
--Do I REALLY want the smokey eyes look? Because if your skin is really dark or light that washes out your complexion. Also, it takes time and money to manage this look.
--Do I have enough money to manage this look? Makeup can get expensive if used often. Since I don't use makeup, I can't honestly say how much you'll need to manage your look, but I'm guessing about $5-20 per eyeliner crayon and $7-30 per tube of mascara.
If you still really want the smokey eyes look, talk to your mom and find out why she's been saying no.
If you want more advice on this, just message me.

I used to wear it even if my mom didn't allow it. I wouldn't want to walk around feeling uncomfortable just because of my mom's weird beliefs. You should be old enough to buy your own products anyhow. Maybe you should buy it, try it on, then ask her how it looks and maybe get a few pointers from her. Mascara and eyeliner aren't bad for you. Moms are very protective, you just have to show her that you can be trusted, even if you decide to use a little eyeliner.

i am 15 too and my mom allows me to wear any kind of makeup unless i put on too much and she tells me to go take it off and put on less. she told me that when she was young her mother wouldn't allow her to wear makeup so she had to put it on when she got to school and take it off before she got home. she said she hated doing that and wouldn't want to put me through that. mascara and eyeliner aren't bad for you at all, unless you share it. thats one thing i wont share because there are so many little bugs in your lashes. i think you should show her this yahoo answers thing and everybody's opinions. i feel a little sorry for you though, if i could i would send you some makeup : ] good luck !

i'm 14 and i wear make-up but i never overdo it (except for costume stuff ya know?)
make-up doesn't do any harm(unless you sleep w/ it on it ages you) i think she should allow you to wear mascara at first and then after a while ask about eyeliner. and i think you should first ask to wear mascara for like a party your going too and you wanta look nice (better if it's a more formal one) and i think you should ask her if you can get the maybelline great lash in clear cause it's well, clear and gives a really natural look.
but yeah, it's totally up to your mom. hope i helped! ^_^

I used to wear clear mascara only and lip balm. Also, try to curl your eyelashes as much as you can so that they look long. You can also apply a light bronzer that looks natural all over your face, so you have a 'glow' all day, and specially fisrt thing in the morning. Wear cute earrings, fix your hair nice and you are all set.
