I'm looking for sound effects for some songs I'm doing, is there any place I could find a good 'thunder' sound effect?

Have you tryed lime wire they have lots of stuff you could download, just type in under the audio tab and then type "Thunder sound effect" a application might come up or not but that is the best place to look for a sound effect.
To download Lime Wire go to limewire.com and click on get basic and then fill out the the quick download sheet and there you have it.

Heres one... just search the net for sounds, sound effects, etc. its easy to download and if you don't like one effect there are hundreds of others out there.

At http://www.sounddogs.com ,they have some sound fx and some tracks.Some you can buy in a package by credit or download some individually.Either way,you have to sign up to download.
