My family is planning on moving back to england after 28 years living in the United States. I'm thinking about joining them but after reading some posts regarding "yanks" I was wondering honestly how the average Brit feels about us. I'm a 30 f who is hard working and loves meeting people..will it be difficult for me. ps...how's the job market?

I'm an American Citizen who moved here two years ago to marry my Welsh husband. We live in London. In my experience so far, most everyone is judged on who they are personally. I've experienced a couple instances of racism, but they were brief moments of stupidity on the part of a couple un-informed persons.

It doesn't really matter in the long run if you stay there or come here... It's your life and where and how you choose to live it and be as a person - your values and your integrity - that's what is only ever going to matter.

Cheers

PS - the jobs market is great, if you have skills it's even better. I'd suggest you start doing some Internet research to get an idea of what is here and what's on offer job and pay-wise so you know what you will be facing. Ta

I do not live in England but if I had a chance to move out of the United States and have the ability to work in another country I would. Currently I think many of the 30 something age range would. Give it a shot what do you have to lose other then the time of your life!

Your jobprospects will depend greatly on previous qualifications/experience. No doubt you could be an asset to some company! Friend of mine works in Scotland, she is a registered nurse, decided to come back to Britain after 20 years or so in Phildadelphia. She had to go through the process of re registering with NMC but loves her life in Scotland! She's made many friends and none of them has ever questioned her choice to return or taken her to task about President Bush or whatever!

It is a big decision for you to make because you will find, not only a different country, but also different life styles, and it will be really something! But if it is what you want to do then maybe you should contact web based job agencies, e-mail your CV and see what they say!

Good luck!

Job market depends on your experience and qualifications and where you are living and what sector you work in...

As for anything else, just go with the flow...

I wouldn't mind an American friend, neighbour, or even partner. Met some great Americans living in London. Hope you are made very welcome when you come to live here.
