perhaps she is using the word sarcastically, like when her male partner is treating her like she's subordinate to him.

or maybe the couple's into bdsm activities.

or maybe she genuinely has very low self-esteem, and he's very controlling, and he makes her call him that. but, considering the changes in society, that's not very likely.
