I work at a credit consulting agency part time so im pretty familar with how you can easily resolve this. You were given paperwork from court from the judge on the articles or items that were awarded to your wife, what you do is next time they call fax them a copy that shows your wiffe was awarded the car. If they continue to harass you then bring that paperwork to a lawyer and have the lawyer file or sent them a cease and disist letter.

The judge has rewarded the car in favor of her, and for her daily routine use and convenient. If that is a divorce settlement than you have to pay. However if she trade-in and get herself a brand new car, then she has to pay herself for the difference.

If the judge gave her the car then it should be in the paper work but if you singed the papers for the car then you have to deal with the finance company then go after her for what you paid. Get everything in writting.

Without more info I don't know what to say. I suppose you could try to sue her. Unfortunately if you are a co-signer, whether the car was awarded to her or not...you are liable under the loan payments contract. They can legally pursue the money from you. Don't feel left out...they are most likely still harassing her for the money too.

If your name was on the loan there is not much that you can do. ?? There should not be much left to pay on the car at this point and since they repossessed it they should have been able to get most of their money back selling it unless your ex had trashed the car.

Then she should be the one that has to pay for it, BUT.... I been through a similar situation, my divorce paper states that my ex, is to be responsible for paying for the house since him and his new wife are the ones living in it, BUT since my name is still on the loan, I'm still responsible for it, no way of getting my name off either, so this may be why they are coming after you, divorce papers mean Nada.

Unfortunately, if you are on the loan then you are liable for that debt. If you show future lendors the divorce decree it may help you secure any financing you may be trying to get because this will affect your credit.

Get copies of the paper and forward them to whomever. Legally, if she was awarded the car,,,there is nothing that the company can do to you.
After you give them the papers, if they continue, bring up harassing and they will chill.

Take it to court and fight it. Fight the finance company to go after her and not you. Unless you were ordered to pay for the car too.
