Pretend you have never read the Iliad and that you are watching a new action story that not everyone knows; as the sound track plays pretend you have never heard of Shostakovich or his 5th Symphony and Troy starring Brad Pitt is a decent action movie. But if the blatant disregard for Homer's epic and the blatant ripoff of Shostakovich bother you, you'll hate this movie.

I think it would have done better it they hadn't focused on Pitt so much in the marketing and ads. It a pretty good historical representation, of course a little hollywood thrown in, but otherwise a good film. Achilles (Pitts character) was one of several main characters and that's how they should have represented the film.

I think it was really well done, and much better than Colin Farrell in Alexander. That movie was awful. I especially liked Eric Bana's performance as Hector in Troy.

Good movie. But I like those kinds of movies. I love history from that era and a good movie makes it interesting. Even if it's exaggerated or a little fiction thrown in there. It's still interesting to watch and entertains me.

I thought it was pretty cool but they should have included more of the mythology and make it more entertaining since the story states that Achilles became impervious after being dunked in the River Styx by his mother but since she was holding him by his foot, the water did not cover his heel, making it his weak spot. Hollywood messed up on that one.
