Hispanic means of spanish heritage. If you arent of Spanish Heritage then this does not apply to you obviously. There are even people in Latin America who dont qualify as hispanic. I think what you meant to ask was "Latin" ..

I never heard of a European being called a "white non hispanic". I and everyone else I've heard usually says European unless they know exactly where they are from. As for the Hispanic...I say Hispanic because they usually yell if you call them Mexican. But sometimes you get yelled at for saying Hispanic instead of Latino. So I don't know on that one. I usually just say Hispanic. I guess I'm a no no person with you. I am a European mutt. My descendants came from all over Europe.

Only in surveys will you see the term "white, non-Hispanic."

When the Spanish conquered Latin America, they mixed with the native tribes, forming a new mestizo "sub-race", which is only partially white... hence the distinction.
