Well, complete trust will never be there after any dishonesty.

It depends on the person being unfaithful. Sometimes they may have a nature that enables them to hide it well and the trust may remain intact from the point of view of the one who is being cheated on. Or sometimes the one who is being unfaithful cannot help leaving little clues in the way they behave, that eventually means it dawns on their partner that something is not right. It depends on the personality of the cheater, and it depends on the personality of the one being cheated on.

But once the cheating has been discovered, then try as you might to rebuild the original relationship, I don't think trust can ever be freely given again.

I think if you suspect, then it is likely happening.
Once the lying begins, the trust stops there.
Whether it's hidden or not. There are changes in one's
character and demeanor.
Even if it could be hidden, the person committing the act
has to live with the guilt.

It can stay hidden for ever. Whne trust is broken it is never fully recovered. Sweep the ashes out and start afresh, if the love was real it will bloom again.

If it is well hidden it will not destroy the trust base, unless the one who is unfaithful starts leaving some hints.

unfortunately i found out that trust can never be regained in this situation. Your imagination will always get the better of you. Home late, what were you doing, laughing on the phone, who is that, dosent want sex maybe 2 nights in a row, where are they getting it. It kills you maybe counseling can help you guys, or your faith? it didn't for us, sorry to be so negative.
But it was the best thing that happened to me i ended a horrible relationship and found my husband, it have a a happy ending. good luck.

I didn't find out my wife fooled around on me until after we got separated. She was always accusing me though I could not talk to anyone, go out on my own... but she could. She had a lot of chat buddies on the computer but I was only allowed to do school on it.
When she told me my kids can't come back to my house I started planning to get out of the marraige. She had a separation agreement issued to me. I happily left. Then I found out through my kids that she fooled around on me while I was in Iraq.
I had no idea that she was doing it or had done it. I trusted her. I was always second guessing myself but she was the one to look out for. I guess the saying is true. When you point your fingers at someone, there are three pointing back at you.
