so why are you complaining about immigrants (illegal) taking 'our' jobs?

I don't see an overwhelming number of illegal immigrants being teachers, or lawyers or even doctors. So What job of YOURS are the illegal immigrants taking? Is there a race to work in the kitchen of the local restaurant?

logical democrat, I agree with you. Empoloyers should be penalized. However my question is geared toward those narrow minded uber educated American's that say 'they're taking our jobs'.

I realize and understand every point you make. You make valid points. My point is that people that are anti-illegal immigrant are focusing their energy in the wrong place. The government has been more than complicit in allowing the overwhelming numbers of illegal immigrants in this country. THe government has been more than complicit, practically an accomplice in blue collar corporations hiring undocumented workers. That's my point. As for being bi-lingual, well I don't have an objective opinion on that becuase I have always been bi-lingual. I cannot empathize with one that is mono-lingual. However, I suggest mono-lingual Americans pick up another language, soon. Culture is ever evolving and the American culture is very quickly moving to a multi-lingual society. English is passe. :)

What you obviously dont understand is that the companies that hire these people for minimum wage COULD NOT do this if they were forced to pay higher wages. By having these illegal immigrants working for these low wages, it brings down the entire middle class. There are very few places that pay much more than the minimum wage but in Texas where I live, it is a common thing to see most jobs paying $7-$10 an hour. How is a person to live? Not everyone is cut out to go to college. What you dont acknowledge is that these illegals are also being exploited. And it is a matter of time before they too will decide that the profits that these companies are raking in are going to the CEO's and not trickling down to the people who are actually doing the bulk of the work. And along with that are the numerous jobs that have added to it that you must be bi-lingual.......

In California illegal immigrants are hired to build homes and other buildings. Union construction workers are being displaced by lower price illegal immigrants. They are also taking on better jobs in the wine industry ; so its not just minimum wage landscaping type of work they are taking. Besides what would be wrong with young people doing those minimum wage jobs for a start in life? But they can't since the illegal immigrants are here to take them; and they won't because they are too busy copying files to their ipods.

The overall complaint from the people I know is that it is illegal. It has nothing to do with the selfishness of our own job. It has everything to do with the law and correcting the situation. Are we late to pick up on this? Sure we are. But just because it was allowed to go on doesn't mean it should continue.

Sneaking into this country illegally should be stopped. Then the legal immigration policy and procedure should be fixed to allow as many people in as is feasible. But breaking the law, and allowing the law to be broken, is never the answer.

It would be SO MUCH CHEAPER AND EASIER to simply increase fines for businesses hiring illegals... no jobs, no illegals... no billion dollar wall needed, no 50,000 troops at great expense needed... just a simple change in the fines that business that are caught employing illegals... make it not worth the cost of getting caught and maybe hire 100 new people to watch businesses for illegal hiring...

what happened to Republican fiscal conservatism... it seems like anymore they want to take the most expensive way possible when solving a problem...

I have never bought the line about Jobs Americans won't do. I have done both jobs you listed and I was paid better than minimum wage for both. If we would secure our borders the Illegals would not be able to drive wages down.

Sweetheart, In Phoenix Arizona, wetbacks are asking for and getting $8.00-$10.00 per hour for Landscaping, Day Labor, Janitorial, etc., if they have any special skills like bricklaying, cement finishing, or carpentry, they get $100.00 per day! Guess what honey, I've seen day laborers go from nothing and within a year , they will own a truck, a trailer, have insurance and a drivers license. That's why they don't need to learn English they won't be using it! I promise you , this is the stone cold truth!
