Same problem in my case.
I have 3 sisters, so there are four girls in my family. When my parents got divorced, the court was on the verge of awarding custody to my mother even though she was whacked out and had been in a mental hospital 3 times. The only thing that changed that was her threatening to kill my father (and the court reporter heard it) and her trying to kill my sisters and I.
I don't know why the court does this, but fight with all you've got for your daughter. She needs her dad. Lord knows I need mine. I'm 13 and wouldn't be here if not for my dad.
God Bless.

Because women don't realy wamt equality. They want everything..cherry picking the best of both worlds to get what they want. A woman would have to be crazy, or realy dumb, to want to be equal.
And most dads are 'bad parents', at least in the eyes of the law. After all, simply working an 8 hour day is 'bad parenting'(most schools will let out before that living the poor kid on the corner). Women are more then happy to stay home and colect the check from the guy, to 'be there' for her kid. Mom's also know all the kid details that most dads don't know....looks real bad in court when dad does not know thier kids birthday

Not all family courts are biased to the mother. My sister in-law was trying to keep her daughter away from her father.....and the courts found him to be a fine father and she now has to share custody 50/50 and she doesn't get any child support anymore. A lot of the time the fathers don't fight for thier kids......I applaud you for wanting to be in your kids life. You are a great example to all of those dead beat dads that should have just been sperm donnors. I feel that equality is earned. If she isn't willing to work with you on a solution then....get a good lawyer. Your kids are going to see that you fought for them and they will eventually see thier mother as being the bad guy for keeping them from you. I hope that it all works out in the end for you. Good Luck :)

I am a woman, and I sorta agree w/ you. When it comes to the children and things, no matter how good the dad is, it is hard as everything for him to gain custody. And I know that one person shouldn't ruin things for everyone but that is what happens.
24 years ago when my parents split up, my mom was awarded custody, but at 4 years old, I refused to live w/ my mom and grew up in my dad's house.
If you really want her,,,,take her to court not matter what. If you want to be a dad, you should be allowed the chance to.
Good Luck!

I think that it is wrong. Fathers should have all the same rights as mothers in the court system!! You helped to raise this child so you should have the right to share custody!!
Most reasons for females wanting custody is the child support payments!! If there was joint custody she would not receive these!!
Good Luck!

think of it this way, mom gave birth, carried and is equipted for feeding, has a mother instinct, we just helped her in getting pregnant, so why shouldnt she have most of the rights, im not saying dads dont deserve any, but parrents want it all there way in a divorce, to much anger, if they would work it out to where both have the same rights it would be easier

Well, the courts have had lots of experience with this issue---and judges are usually pretty smart and experienced...
