We will have a seven-year-old and a couple of teenagers with us. We plan on staying 4 or 5 days.

Passports - No.

Photo ID - Yes.

Passports are not required yet, they may be need next year.
In the meantime take photo ID, like a drivers licence and birth certificates.
Had a good vacation. Newfoundland is wonderful, don't forget to try a Newfoundland special "Cod tongues" available at lots of restaurants

No passports needed...picture ID isn`t necessary but is a good idea. When you get to Cape Breton you should tour the Cabot Trail. The scenery is fantastic. You should also visit Fortress Louisbourg while you`re on Cape Breton Island.

You will not need passports because the US and Canada share a friendly border. It's never a bad idea, however, to make sure everyone has a photo ID. Have fun!

You will have to call the passport office. I don't know when but some time this year to will need a passport to travel anywhere. I would check first.
