I have seen traveling businessmen with these little antennaes on their laptops and wondered if they are wirelessly connected via satellite? If so, where do you get such a thing and how much does it cost? I have tried searching online and don't know what it's called.

There are add on cards to use with laptops not equipped with built in WiFi internet. Others are cards used to access the web through cell phone technology. Sattelite cards are available for specialized services, but are going to be incredibly expensive. The cell network internet cards run for 1 to 3 hundred, but cost $80 a month or so in access fees. (and you have to commit to 2 years of service) Try checking with Verizon, or Sprint, and looking for "pc adapter" or mobile internet.

They are probably wirelessly connected via Wireless WAN. It is cell phone based, not satellite.
