I know we get it at Home Depot - but what I am looking for when I need to seal the crack/gap between the shower but and the floor or the wall?

You are looking for "tub & tile" caulk. There are many brand names, but "DAP" brand seems to be sold everywhere. This type of caulking retains some flexibility and will do a good job of sealing the space you describe.

Good luck with your caulking project.

Get a high quality tub and tile caulk. It should be available in a color that matches your bathroom. If the crack/gap is a quarter of an inch, or larger, buy backer rod. Squeeze backer rod into gap, then caulk. Don't forget to purchase a caulk-gun if you don't already own one.

Like others here have already mentioned, use a good bathroom caulk. A good quality 10.1oz. tube of silicone costs less than five dollars at your local home improvement store.
