If you do not have small children or pets, sprinkle Borax everywhere -- baseboards, cracks, dark areas behind "stuff." Since they are coming from an external source, I would put it outside the house as well. The Borax sticks to the insects' legs. They take it back to their den, and it will eventually kill the entire colony.

Borax. It's laundry detergent and will repel any kind of insect, or if the insect walks through it, will kill the bug. Go to the laundry aisle of the nearest store, buy a box of Borax. Sprinkle it on all your carpets - let it sit for one week (this will kill any eggs left in the carpet), then vacuum it up. Use a spoon to put a line of Borax along the bottom of the walls, so that if any bugs are in the walls, they will die when they come out.
And don't worry - it smells nice, it's detergent afterall. Make sure you keep the kids and pets from eating it or rolling around in it.

Hiring an exterminator would actually be a good idea...because most of them guarantee their work, and if you keep getting them, they'll come back and make sure their gone. Whatever you do you may want to do something quickly before they lay their eggs and you get more.

I've heard putting mint oil on cotton balls and putting them in the corners of the basement, where most of them come from.
