Ooohhhh . . . I understand your problem completely. Try these brands. They are all known from having a yellow-beige undertone, without any pink or orange pigments. Stay away from brands that separate colors into "warm" and "cool", because they often contain the pinks and oranges you're trying to get away from.

Shiseido foundations are designed for the Asian market, where skin tones tend to have yellow or beige undertones. However, their colors trend really dark, so you might have a hard time finding sometime fair enough. They're concealers however, come in very fair shades, so you might give them a try.

Stila is known for it's yellow-beige undertones, and I love the Illuminating Foundation.

Smashbox

CARGO has great fair shades, and at less than $30 for almost 30% more than the industry standard size container, it's a phenomenal value. I love layering their liquid makeup with their powder foundation. Talk about a flawless finish.

NARS has a fabulous oil free foundation that I love for my oily skin. Luckily for you dry skinned gals out there, there's one that's not oil free, too.

Some brands you'd be wise to stay away from, in my experience:

Drug Store Brands
Estee Lauder
Christian Dior
Clinique
Lancome
Laura Mercier
Vincent Longo

All of these are great companies, with fabulous products, but from what you've described, they're probably not going to meet your needs, color-wise. Good Luck!

That's a big problem with many women and their foundations. The makeup has too much pink, but in reality many people have yellow tones to their skin. MAC is good because it tries to match the undertones of our skin not just the depth of color (light vs. dark).

I actually have an olive tone to my skin so, although MAC might be OK for you, it looks orangy on me. Mary Kay has a good olive tone foundation that works well for me. I also recently purchased a mineral foundation that I'm excited to try.

Best,

G

Unfortunately you get what you pay for, and when it comes to foundation the best is Bee Luscious Cosmetics liquid powder mineral foundation it costs 32.00 but the tube lasts forever so it is actually more economical in the long run, mine is going on 9 months now and worth every penny, the colors just melt into your skin tone like nothing else I have ever used before.

The best bet would be to go to a professional make-up counter or store, like M.A.C. or sephora, and ask a makeup artist to test colors on you. They would be able to explain what skin tones and undertones you have, and recommend the best type of coverage for your skin....since not everyone needs foundation. A brand called prescriptives (mostly a makeup counter in a dept. store) can make custom shades for your skin. my friend uses this, and you cant even tell she has makeup on.

If you are more of a convenience store makeup buyer - i know that lines like cover girl and loreal have their "true match" lines of makeup, and in the counter, you can find swatches that you can hold to your skin and decide. If this is the way you go, Target and Sav-on stores take back used makeup if you have a receipt (and a decent reason)..so if you purchase a color that you really dont like, you can try another one.

Always remember to test any color on your jaw line...not your hand or wrist... The skin on your inner wrist is thinner than your face, and most likely not a true match to your face. Also, always remember to blend!!

Good Luck

Try Bare Minerals: Your skin tone sounds like my daughter's & she has had the exact same problem. She loves Bare Minerals. I use it too tho' my skin tone is even a bit more yellow than hers & has deepened a bit as I get older. What we love is you get two shades of "foundation" & adjust the color on your face. I use the "Warmth" as blush for a touch of sun look (I forget what blush my kid uses, I think it's called "Flowers" or something like that) the finishing powder sets it beautifully. Use a light hand in applying it & it really looks like no makeup at all.

You can order it on-line or get the phone number from the ads.
