GM has been following VW with their #$(@&$*# sealed transmissions. Some how some one decided to leave dipsticks out of these cars believing that they could actually create a no maintenance transmission. What a joke.

Here is instructions on how to find the dipstick on the 3T40 trans as well as where the fluid level "Screw(ed)" hole is on the 4T40E transmission, (which I'm guessing you have).

Sometimes the dipsticks are located in hard to find spots. Look on the left side far to the back. Check it when the car is running. Take it out once, wipe it off, and put it back in to get a accurate reading. I usually let the vehicle run for 5-10 minutes on a level surface. Be careful not to touch the engine since it will be hot. On the dipstick there's a mark that will tell you when it's low and how full it has to be.

Engine hot, level ground, engine running, remove stick and look at the color, and smell, if brown or burnt smell, replace fluid. But you should be able to read the full markings on the stick from there.

Thats easy. You open your hood, get a clean cloth (so you dont get your hands dirty) turn to your right....and ask the little guy in the overalls to check the fluids.
