I think it was somewhere in Africa or Ethiopia where the U.S. government sent millions of dollars for hunger relief and stuff like that. I also heard on the news, like 20/20, that the leaders of that country were taking that money for themselves and destroying the commoners' little shops made out of two by fours and stuff so they can't make a living and that's why nothing has changed there, so it would be pointless to send charitable money there since the head officials just steal it to spend on their fancy cars and palaces.....what the hell is that all about?? Is there gonna be any real relief for these people?

The U.S. government has no plans for Africa.

The private citizens on the other hand are leaping over their, celebrities will use it as a vacation ground, the companies are looking to buy land for oil or coal, and Bill Gates and friends are going to spend billions trying to help the sick.

Yes you are right.
I don't know which country you are talking about though, I mean the one you said its MP's use the charity money for their own good, but that is very true.
To answer your question, the US government is not doing anything to help Africa at this very moment, but some people in USA, especially the celebrities are doing their best. The US gorvernment's last contribution was last year when Sudan was in crisis. Most of the food was donated by the US. In a G-8 group, George Bush is the only member which is negetive about the whole idea of helping Africa. The celebrities are also more concerned about Sudan. The Kenya community is going to benefit a lot from the establishments the US celebrities are going to have within the country (Kenya). The richest man in the world (me, not me.. I'm sorry I mean Bill Gates) and the second richest man (I don't know his name) are also planning to launch the biggest charity ever, multibillion charity from just the 2 of them.
Unfortunately my country (South Africa) never qualifies to benefit from these charities, instead, it is expected to contribute towards helping the poorer countries.

Sending money to these countries is all for show. America has to look like the embassador's of good will with everything when really we're doing nothing. I dont understand why we have to go bail everyone else out when we cant even take care of our own people. The billions we send out helping 3rd world countries could be better spent here improving medical issues we have here like providing cheaper insurance or funding research for cures, helping our own homeless and foster children.

We need to quit helping everyone else out and help ourselves.
