I can only tell you from experience.....my husband and I didn't save a dime and i have been married for 10 1/2 years....to me if you guys work together and be responsible with the money you earn you can start from scratch......save together, work together, and be happy where you are, and take one day at a time you guys will be fine.We are financially stable....and we started from scratch.

Save as much as you can. all I had in the bank was 2,000 and it didn't last long after we got married but we have done just fine...if you are waiting to be financially stable before you get married that is a good idea. Talk to your fiance and figure out how you will deal with the money matters when you are married (VERY important to be on the same page) You would be suprised what you can live off of when you need to

It depends what your saving for. Are you asking about saving for a wedding? Or for starting a new life together?

My husband and did not have anything in savings but we save for a year and half while we were engaged to pay for our wedding. Then we took what we received in gift money from the wedding and put it down on a house. Other then that we did not have a big savings account or anything. We both had steady jobs though...that helped.

Save as much as you possibly can. Sooner or later, you're gonna get some expense, or hidden bill, that you just may need that extra money. There is nothing wrong with saving extra.....so if you can, pinch them pennies. It'll pay off in the long run. Best of luck to you in the future, may your marriage be the envy of your friends........

I had a small wedding (about 75 people) the total came to about $9,000.00 after...
Ceremony, reception, invitations, party favors (I went crazy on the party favors, but check out e-bay they have everything you could think of), my dress, my 3 bridesmades dresses and the flower girl's (you don't have to pay for those), and my husband's tux rental.
Your best bet is to find a reception place that handles everything for you (catering, flowers, cake, music, pictures). That's what I did. It came out beautifully! Good luck and congratulations!

I think I got by with spending about $3000 but I did almost everything myself. The food, decorating, flower, arrangements, and my bridesmaids paid for their own dresses. It was still beautiful and no one was any the wiser on how much of it I put together my self. i guess it depends on how hard you wanna work for your big day.
