Easy, because now that he has had two years to realize what he's had with you, he's realized the grass isn't not only greener, but dying and wilted. Whatever relationship(s) he may have had has failed (probably because no one will put up with his BS) He now sees what he had with you and appreciates it more and wants to bump into you. He's curious about what you've been up to, what you look like now, if you're in a relationship, if you're happy, if he's attracted to you again, if you'd be willing to get back with him or maybe if you're willing for even just a "roll in the hay". For whatever reason, HE WANTS TO "BUMP" INTO YOU!
If you talk to him, smile and be positive and let him know just how GREAT your life is. (even if it's not) Don't be negative; don't talk about bills, aches, pains or bad memories, & be mysterious about your current love life. Whether or not you want him back doesn't matter.

Well, many reasons. It could be a place they used to go to and he is now comfortable to go back. Sometimes we have to try and think objectively about the actions of other people. I know its easy to jump to the thought that he is going there on the off chance that he will see her and all that. But lets try to think the best of this person and say that after two years he could just be getting back to his lifestyle and if he sees her he is finally okay with it, so it could be no problem if they run into each other. He could just want to have contact with her. Like old friends who lose touch and always stay in the back of your mind. You also say that his ex wife MIGHT go to- if it is not very likely that she will go then maybe it is not on his mind at all. Also, you said multiple bars...the odds of being at the same bar at the same time are smaller than if it was just one bar. All the same- there are many reasons and we should keep trying to be objective. Best of luck!

with experience from working at (dive) bars, nothing suprises me. i've seen exes with their new partners all drinking together. i've seen exes beating each other up. maybe he wants to have sex with you again. maybe he has a new girlfriend and wants to rub it in your face. maybe he don't care about you and really likes the bar. hard to tell...good luck.
