For me, I've been through a few long term relationships, and if anyone has gone to my homepage, you can even read about them. LOL.

From my experiences, the secrets to a successful relationship are above all trust and communication, and a healthy sex life. If you can love some fully, unconditionally, and trust each other completely, then you can last forever.
Both of you need to at least have some similar interests that you share, and to be able to talk about things that are issues, before they become problems. This didn't happen with my ex, and that's the reason we broke up.

Good luck and I hope all this helps.

Forget the 50/50 rule...that was made up by numbskulls with all of 2 weeks in a relationship! Here is the reality check - people screw up - we are self centered and often, lazy. There will be times that you give a 100% and receive little in return. Other times, your spouse will carry you. Bottom line: Love, even when there's not much to like. Laugh, even when times are tough. Pray together, because with God on your side, you can rise above our human nature.

not in any particular order you need most of the following:

financial security
a good sex life
faithfulness
good and enjoyable communication

...and amazingly thats all i can think of. you sohuld of course be great friends with the peron but that kind of goes without saying. .....those are the four things you need!

My policy to the a successful relationship is,"Compromise". Without this, I'm sure I would not still be with my wife after nearly 30 years.
