Oahu has both in one shot! On Oahu North Shore in the winter you have not only the most beautiful Beach's but AMAZING waves! I once saw a 16 foot wave.... that was crazy! But then on the Waikiki side during the winter it is calmer and great for swimming. Then in the same trip you can drive up Kole Kole pass and see the gorgeous mountains there and at the top you can see the ocean. The same goes for Honolulu side. The reason to see each of them

beach- well it depends on where you go if it will be warm and sunny but if it is that is a plus! I can't give you much of a reason to go to a cold beach but a tropical one--warm breeze, sun kissed skin, smell of salty fresh air is so refreshing and the water revives your skin.

mountains- Amazing scenery, get a bit of a workout when you hike or take a chance and do some climbing. It really puts things in prespective to see such a massive thing that was created naturally! You can make discoveries like that one lone flower on the side of the mountain, or a 100 year coin left by a previous hiker or a great fossil. It can be kind of liberating.

I think the beach because there are a lot of cool places to go to or do you can meet some pretty cool people and not to mention the ocean and the great tan you can get. Any beach really I have been to the San Diego beach and I loved it plus we went through the mountains so you would get to see a little bit of those and maybe stop and rest in a town where you could do something there that deals with the mountains.

I prefer visiting the mountains, but that's because of a combination of personal things: I live two miles from a nice beach anyway, I'm a little bit afraid of swimming in the ocean, I don't like heat or sand, etc. Which one is "better" really depends on the people going on the vacation and what kinds of things they enjoy.

I personally prefer beaches because I'm a water baby, and I find that I have allergies to many of the mountainous plants. I love Playa del Rey, it's a sleepy beach town in the middle of Los Angeles.

My idea of a vacation is getting away from the hustle and bustle and relaxing. I think the mountains are a better vacation spot. They tend to be more secluded and peaceful. The beach is usually, not in all cases, located close to a major metropolitan area and can be crowed. It's usually hot, sandy...ugh, not my idea of a restful vacation. Allthough, when it really boils down to it, its all a matter of personal preference.

There seem to be more activities in the mountains than the beach.

you know i think it depends on were you live if you live close to the mountains and far from the beach, you'd probably have more fun at the beach, but if you live close to the beach you'd probably enjoy the mountains, people travel here(Alaska) from all over the place, because of the hunting, fishing, bears, bald eagles, seals and sea lions and much more it really is a beautifully place to visit of cores i live here year round so Miami sound good to me.

Personally, the mountains. Although, thats only because i get bad sunburns when in the sun and assuming that most mountains have trees...well my answer is given.

i actually prefer to be in the mountains, specifically the smokey mountains in tennessee. there you have waterfalls, and unreal views. it's extremely beautiful, and the temperature is nice. but I also live in florida, so the beach is boring to me.
