It originated with the Liberals. Or at least got out of hand because of them. You can no longer call someone black without having people get mad. I say if you're from America then that's what you are, American, otherwise I am going to request the official title of Scandinavian-American to be placed on suveys. Women aren't allowed to be called chicks, broads, dames, etc. And quite frankly I like using those words.
Its getting so out of hand that freedom of speech is being made obsolete.

watch Bill Maher that used to be called Politically Incorrect on HBO when the new season starts on HBO. America has a lot of mistakes to make up for so it has to act like it was the most correct all along.

Americans??? Politically correct??? You must be kidding!!! You guys are spending millions to kill in Iraq for oil, have refused to sign the Kyoto treaty, can purchase fire guns in any corner shop, can't drink in public unlike almost any country, etc. etc. etc, and think you're politically correct. I don't get that.

It originated in the '60s, when white America formally admitted that racism was wrong, and thereby unwittingly rolled out a red carpet for any and all social grievances to be treated as entitlements.

The purpose of it was to give people pause and consider there are many varied people in their communities, country and the world. Now, it is just one more reason for people who like to be offensive to others different than them to complain about them being "overly sensitive." Unless someone is on the receiving end of constant public ridicule or shunning, it's hard to understand.

Yes it's out of hand, way out of hand. I think it came to prominence when Clinton was in office. I think this because he never ceased to cater and cow-tow to the people who were pushing the wrong agendas just to avoid offending them. Heaven forbid that we should offend anyone these days, they might whine and cry themselves to death (sarcasm). Hey, that might not be a bad idea because there would be fewer of the crybabies around that way. Clinton was and is a disgrace and he helped begin the end of our greatness as a nation.

I've never known politics to be correct. Humans are just getting too crazy with "What's the correct term?" and half the times misuse them. I get so sick of "spokesperson," "chairperson...."
What's next? Huperson, woperson? It's "human," "spokesman..."
