how do i advertise a new web site?

i am advertising this new web site that my friend is setting up and he needs people to preregister, its www.anotherprofile.com, kinda like myspace but better, anyway iv tried all the petty things like this and talking to people i know but does anyone know how to get the word out there on a larger scale????

you should get a professsional web site promoter. they know all of the best things to do and besplaces to advertise. if you have no money do this

I think you should only focus on a few main search engines, yahoo and google say. Join some forums, and advertise the site in your footer/signature. Don't spam forums though, it'll be a slow takeup, but hopefully it builds momentium. Also leave the website address on your own myspace, faceparty, facebook accounts etc... and tell all your online friends about it (but remember not to spam).

Perhaps email a few computer magazines and ask them to feature your site... that'd get you great business.

I wouldn't spend lots on advertising. You don't know if it will be successful, and I doubt you want to risk all the money they'd charge.

Advertising is one of the complex things. More tips, secrets, knowledge and restrictions are out there. You need to learn more by reading enough quality articles. For sure it takes times. I have a source of high quality advertising articles. Discover by yourself.

Promote it on myspace, xanga, bolt, bolt2, tagworld, etc. Places where people are looking for something better.
