Referral and networking are the best ways to get sales jobs.

It also depends on what types of sales...inside, outside, retail, wholesale, services, etc. You didn't mention what type.

Make personal business cards to advertise yourself, hand them out at Chamber functions, business and service organization lunches (Business Men's Fellowship, Rotary Club, Lions Club, etc.)

Looking for a sales job is all about selling yourself first. Make a plan, have copies of your resume and personal business cards ready and start knocking on the doors of the places you would like to work. If they don't have openings, ask if they know of anyone who might.

Another way to get a sales job is to take a college course that has to do with your field of interest. (I.e., finance or real estate) You will meet so many people and get so many leads from that one class alone. Many of the students are already employed in sales jobs, and also the professors, and can offer a wealth of job opening information and tips on getting a foot in the door.

I am 66, have a Business in Canada, and am looking to erxpand into USA. Are you active? Can you see yourself calling on Retail stores with a unique promotional display? Supervising two other individuals? Earn $1000.+ for a 5 day, 40 hour week? Nearly all of my Sales managers were inexperienced when they started with me, and most are of 'mature' age.

Approach the companies directly. Submitting resumes and sitting at home never worked for me. Showing up at their door and letting them either 1) talk to you 2) schedule a later appointment 3) Or reject you gets you answers fast. Try that.

1) Look for how you want to work. Wear a suit? Work outdoors? Indoors?

2) Decide whether you want to work part time, full time.

3) Figure out what industry you would be interested in.

4) Decide whether you want commission, salary or both

5) Lastly decide what you want to sell.

6) California Culinary Academy is hiring. Good luck.
