Nothing on this earth lives without the death of something else. It is eat or be eaten. No amount of civility, culture or education can change that.

Those "oldest cultures" derive from the time of "kill or be killed",and have not yet evolved in a more (but not totally) civil and socially advanced world. They have not accepted the "live and let live) concept.

Some cultures are just more open about expressing how they feel, both the good and the bad. Here in North America, we can be way too polite and tensions build up because no one talks openly about what's bothering them.

becuse, the strongest were admired the ruthless feared to control and protect ones empire you had to be feared by your enimies and strongest in yours. There were no canctions or foreign aid. if you neede resources you would have to get them. if you wanted to stop someone you had to force them to do your will. the only peaceful way of doing anything in the past was to pay for it, to be protected by rome you had to pay taxs and obide by there rules. If you didn't you had to protect youself or fear them if they decided they wanted something from you. there is also the old thing about somepeople just never having enough.

It doesn't really seem like it to me..not more than today..Blacks and whites not getting along. Bin Laden, Al Queda, and other terrorist organizations.. The only thing is-we've gone from bow and arrows, to nuclear weapons.
