I mean c'mon there are other countries that speak Spanish, in South America, Central America, and Spain which is in Europe

Americans are stupid. Not all Americans, but in general. Look up some statistics and find out how many can't even find Louisiana on a map. Its sad. When Americans come to Europe they assume that everyone speaks English (as a second language) then complain when they don't or are rude to the American tourist. Its just that America is self-centered and the public schools encourage that. America needs to broaden its cultural horizon... I mean it has the most diverse population, why not flaunt it rather than suppressing it into one media-oriented culture.
Lets not forget that as a white person in America with obvious facial features suggesting another culture, are all just called white. I am Scandinavian-American, not whie. I know and celebrate my culture and feel very offended anyone says I am merely white/caucasion, escpecially when its obvious by my looks that I am of a Scandinavian heritage. Therefore, I can relate to how frustrating it is for someone who speaks Spanish and is constantly assumed to be Mexican.

Because, in the United States, you rarely run into any native Spanish speaker who is NOT Mexican. It would be a big waste of time to go around asking all the Mexicans if they're from Spain.

You can't just say "Americans" like it's one person because you are doing the same thing that you say they are doing! You assume that every American thinks that if you speak Spanish you are Mexican. Maybe you have that problem because you look Mexican?!

Its beacouse they grew up with a stereotypical mind. do you know what stereotpe is ? WELL its when u asume about soething or someone before giving it a reason of thought . so they think our spanish the think mexico thats the first thing that pops into their mind

I guess you can ask the same of blacks and Ethiopians etc, people just say black. There are white people that are from other countries, that someone may just say their white.
