If you fill a ziploc freezer bag (these are the strongest to hold liquid) and hang it somewhere. The movement of the water keeps flies away. I worked in a Deli and we hung several bags outside where the garbage bags were put and they really worked.

Hydrophobic flies? Now in case you let us know that once removing the baggage of water, a team of flies confirmed up, i might start to ask your self while you're onto some thing. And in case you are able to repeat that for the time of a pair of dozen diverse places, i might rush off and patent that one!
