I don't get why women still do these rituals that date back to medieval days of face powdering and foot binding. Nothing is more unempowering than a pair of shoes you can't walk in!

Well for heaven's sake, obviously I don't wear it, so I am aware that some women do not and I am not grouping all women together. You can't say anything on here without people jumping on you for that!

Never did I say that they don't have the right to, but I don't think it's a good idea. I can say that without telling anyone else they aren't allowed to do it.

Thinking that your only power comes from being pretty or sexy or five inches taller is the very definition of unempowering... why don't the majority of women who choose to wear heels and makeup (there, happy?) understand that?

I was really into makeup when I was younger, but never could wear heels. They always hurt my back and I've seen so many women get into accidents with them. I've given up makeup and disavow heels completely. One of the things that concerns me about makeup is so much of it has turned out to be unhealthy. So if you use it, make sure it's natural.

I wear both, though not all the time. I do so because I like to. I actually swing dance in heels. Not all women view makeup and heels as some form of ritual. Some people prefer different things.

Can't walk in heels with three kids. I have three pair that I occasionally wear. One pair for church/weddings, one pair for funerals, and one pair in bed. I do use eye make up, but that is because my eyelashes are blond. I bought my first face makeup in like 12 years. Now it sit at the bottom of my make up bag. Mind you my bag is the size of a coin purse.

I'm ugly without makeup. I don't wear really high heels, only 2 inches or lower. They look dressy and professional at work. When I'm off of work, I wear flip flops!

I don't wear makeup cause it clogs the pores, ages you quicker, and my face is too sensitive even wth hypoallergenic make up. I don't wear high heals because they are too uncomfortable. BUT, if someone else wants to wear these things, all the more power to them. If it makes them feel prettier and or sexier, then go for it.

Because they want to look beautiful for dudes. The high heels makes the legs look slimmer, and you can not walk in high heals without your tush swaying back and forth as you walk.
So Why do guys style their hair, and wear Cologne, and worry about how they look???

Personally I like to be comfortable but who cares...it makes them feel pretty and better and that is in a sense empowering them. If wearing heals that make them 5 inches taller gives them power..>I say go for it sister.

being able to make the best of yourself is definitely enpowering, not unempowering, simply because if a women feels she look good her confidence, and sel esteem is also boosted...whats wrong with that, as to the wearing of high heels this lifts a womens rear and gives her a better posture when she walks.

I don't wear either but I don't see why others can't if they don't want to. In fact, if you say that women can't wear those things you are unempowering them. It's not a big issue. Why worry about it?

They do it because I asked them to. They are not just men with breasts. Makeup and heels point up femininity.

If that's too girly for you, wear Docs and pegged pants and roll your smokes up in your TShirt.
