Both sneaked and snuck are correct.
Lighted and lit are likewise also both correct.

I think it is a question of context. Eg "He snuck three extra chocolate bars into the trolley" and "He sneaked around the kitchen for ten minutes." "Snuck" seems to imply a deft, sly action, whereas "sneaking" can go on for longer. There are no definitive "rules" of grammar, so it is a judgement based upon what is generally accepted and what is most appropriate in the specific context.

Sneaked is the past tense of sneak.
"You sneak, I sneaked, they snuck"
Lit is the past tense of light (although lighted could be used in the context of lighting a lamp or lantern)

"Snuck" has the distinction of being the newest "strong" verb in English. (OED 1887) "Sneaked" still works, too.
Lighted and lit are both past tenses of light. (I prefer lit myself.)

Snuck is incorrect, though lots of people use it in conversation, it isn't actually a word. "Lit" is the proper past tense of "light", although I've noticed a marked decline in the use of the irregular past - "dived", "swimmed", etc. in place of "dove", "swam", etc.have become objectionably, detestably, abominably common-place.

Oooo exciting; I never got to do anything like that when I was in high school! :) I don't think you really need to do anything grand to impress him; just be excited for him to be there, especially since he sneaked out to be with you.
