You will need to make active the overburn option.

I'm using Nero Express 6. When you open Nero up, there should be an "more" button. Click this button, then you will need to click the "configure" button. This will bring up a dialog box. Click on the "Expert Feature" tab. You should see cd overburning and dvd overburning.

Not sure which version of Nero you are using but this is the one I have and this is how you get to that option. You can change how many minutes to overburn.

The burner itself must be able to burn onto 800mb disk. It has less to do with the software.
