no, as long as the fundamentalist christians agreed not to try to vote to ban same-sex marriage, abortion, etc.
and jaime and sissysmess, that's neither an original nor intelligent argument. america's founders were also mostly racist, male slave-owners [could there be a connection there, perhaps?], but we've progressed as a society, trying to fight the racism, sexism, homophobia, and general religious bigotry so firmly entrenched in our society.
what other disgusting traditions would you like to exhume?
i, for one, am glad our society has changed.

Absolutely not! It is our right to decide what religion we want to follow if any at all. To ban religion of any sort would be the beginning of the end of our country. I don't understand how it can possibly be offensive to speak of God or church when many atheists blatantly offend theist everyday with rude and provoking comments on their religious choice. I can understand taking prayer and such out of the school systems as well as reference to the bible unless there is equal representation of all other religions in the ciriculum but to demolish it completely is unacceptable and a blatant disregard for our freedom.

I do not believe in mandatory prayer in school. If the kids wish to gather to pray or have Bible study, then it should be on a voluntary basis only. Kids are a captive audience in schools and should not be subject to one person's "brand" of religion. If there are classes on religion, then they should include all religions.
This country was founded on Freedom of Religion. Freedom being the operative word.
It was also founded on the separation of Church and State.
I have a personal faith in God and Jesus, but too many of these so called Christians today make me hesitate to call myself a Christian. These right-wing conservative "Christians" make me very aware of the necessity to separate Church & State.

No I wouldn't, but with all of the bleeding hearts who are so scared of offending someone it might happen in the future. It will be a sad, sad day that's for sure. It seems as if the wrong people are slowly beginning to take control of the influence of this nation, I can't wait to leave it for good someday if it continues in the direction it's going in.
Why not ban Islam? They're the ones who are continuously preaching hate every Tuesday in their Mosques and sending evil murderers out to kill "infidels." Oh I'm sorry, I must have forgotten, we're supposed to have sympathy for the devil in this day and age. Blame anyone but the ones who are at fault because we might offend someone (rolling my eyes in sarcasm). I forgot that it's OK to offend Christians, white people, men, straight married couples, and Americans, but if we offend anyone else then that's viewed as being "insensitive." That kind of mentality in today's world makes me want to vomit.

I think we should use Christian paid tax dollars and put it to use for Christians only. Christian schools, etc. Then no one would have an excuse to stick thier noses in what Christians do or believe. I have no beef with other religions, or athiest. They live here, and they have all the rights everyone else has. But when they start changing things to suit them and only them, thats when it starts to bother me. If you don't like shops with Christian symbols, well then don't go to them. Move on. Don't go trying to change them people to better suit you. Thats what I can't stand liberals and what they have turned into. God help us all.

What? Why? This country was built on the Christian religion! And even with that being said we have the right to practice any religion here. Our founding fathers built this nation using the bible as there guide and I think it is just insane to think we should ban people from speaking of there beliefs and banning our children from learning about our history. And it IS our history!!

That's because it is heading that way, God help us when it dose.
I won't be here when this happens, but it will happen..
The Bible tells us so..
Pray for as many souls as can be saved now, and praise God for our freedom of religion, and freedom to speak, to believe, to explore, freedom can disappear in a heart beat, or by one dumb mistake, answer, or that one person who didn't vote.
Y vote, "they all do what they want anyway" ?
I'm sick of hearing this, just wait until that day comes when our government really Will make our choices..
Sorry, for the soap box. I kind a get carried away.
Anyway, yes, someday, ( sooner then people want to believe too), Christianity will go back under ground..
The Bible tells us so..
God bless you....

No, freedom of religion is one of the principles of our founding fathers, and I believe in it. Many people don't have religion, but for those who find it a comfort, why would we take it away from them. (Though it would make life a lot easier without it.) If Christianity, and other forms of religion are on their way out, let society evolve to that point. Legislating how people should think will only force them to cling to their beliefs even tighter.

Absolutely not. It is actually anti-American to do so since this country was founded on freedom of religion. We also have freedom of speech so they have the right to talk about sin and church. I'm not Christian and it doesn't affect my life in any way that there are millions of Christians in this country.
If you take rights away from one group because you don't agree with them what is to stop another group from taking your rights away because they don't agree with you?

No, I like freedom of speech very much, thank you. But I still hate the stupid right-wing Christians that try to tell me I am wrong and evil and try to make sure I can't live a happy life with the same rights as they have.

No, I would not. Many other religions are just as pronounced in society, and are allowed to make their sattement. In my opinion, as long as people have the right to choose their own religion (or no religion), religions should be allowed to get the word out in whatever way possible.
