So this is a theoretical question obviously but valid none the less. Justice league of America or Xavier's Xmen?

Great question!

I am assuming here, that we're talking about the entire X-men corps, some 50 plus large, going up against the original few members of the JLA - Superman, Batman, Aquaman, Flash, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman and Martian Manhunter.

Of course, DC and Marvel being what they are, have different templates for their characters - DC likes to make their characters all-powerful, while Marvel likes weaknesses in their heroes to make them more relatable.

It'd be tough, but it'd go one of two ways: Either the X-men win by sheer numbers, finally wearing down Supes and maybe answering a few questions in the process (is Superman vulnerable to adamantium claws? Is psychic powers enough to beat Supes? How about psychic against Green Lantern? Whose powers could Rogue absorb? Is the Manhunter vulnerable to fire or not?) Or the JLA, with their DC design, would be able to whomp on the numbers, easily, if they weren't holding back - taking out the more dangerous X-men first.

I would assume that, in the event of such a large fight, that a few of the JLA would go down - Flash, Aquaman, Wonder Woman and Batman to be exact. However, the majority of the X-men's numbers would be decimated by the sheer power of Superman, Martian Manhunter and Green Lantern.

The few left standing in the end would be: Jean Grey, Iceman, Storm, Nightcrawler, Professor X, Squirrel Girl (no, no, I'm JUST kidding!) Gambit and Magneto against the Martian Manhunter, Superman, Green Lantern.

I think even Lex Luthor and Apocalypse would be laughing and crying at the same time at the inevitable destruction of both teams - with a few left standing, I'm sure their thoughts would turn to "Okay, how do I take out Superman, Martian Manhunter, Iceman and Professor X?" - or whomever was left standing!

Me, I'd say it's an even money bet - I'd side with the X-men, because they're my favorite, but even I can recognize that they could get the beat down - but it just seems so even across the board.

There is about 40 or 50 Xmen (or those who have claimed to be Xmen in the Comics), and about a 8 to 12 Justice League members. Rogue can touch a person and absorb their powers and she is an Xmen.

I would say that the JLA would have a pretty hard time against all the Xmen, even a quarter of Xmen's best members.

Superman, Batman, Flash, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and the Martian Manhunter VS. every single currant x-man....We would be the winners, I believe.

the mutants got the numbers, and varieties of powers to make the world tremble...The JLA have the powers and genius to make the universe tremble.

I love the X-men, always have, but the DC universe kinda cheats. The X-men all have limits to their powers and abilities. Heroes like Superman, Wonder Woman, J'onn J'onnz, Green Lantern, they too have their limits, but WAY beyond the scope of allbut Marvel's most powerful Cosmic heroes (Silver Surfer, Thor, Adam Warlock, etc.).

Superman alone could very likely defeat the assembled X-men, backed by the rest of the JLA, my beloved mutants would have a destroyed mansion, many an unconcious X-man, and the rest either tied up, in a floating green cell, or bat-cuffed.

JLA would win, they always do.

IF the fight didn't stop soon after it started, Prof. X or J'onn would "read" the other team and realize they share the same title of Hero.

Now...the new and improved Legion of Doom (Alex Ross's) VS. the entire assembled X-men, they could let loose there.

If it followed standard crossovers (like, for example, the Teen Titans/X Men story, or the more recent Gen13/Generation X), neither side would win. They'd have a huge, inconclusive battle, and then join forces to defeat some evil menace.
(If you can still get hold of them, both these comics are a fun read, by the way.)
Theoretically, though, Xavier could take out anyone. Even Superman. He'd just shut their brains down telepathically. Probably without leaving his study in the X-mansion on Greymalkin Road, Westchester N.Y.
Hope this helps.

In the first issue of the original JLA comic Superman and Wonder Woman were charter members, but recent rewrites exclude them from the original lineup. With Superman's power and Wonder Woman's skills, the X-Men would be outclassed -- except for a single potential burst of power from Jean (Phoenix). The original lineup for the X-Men was much more limited (Angel, Iceman, Beast, Cyclops, Jean) but with successful teamwork training they could probably win against the "revised" original lineup of JLA (Aquaman, Black Canary, Flash, Green Lantern, and Martian Manhumnter).
As for who "rules" -- X-Men all the way! but it would be nice if there were an overall consistency to EITHER team.

People may LIKE the X-Men better, but if you look at the characters realistically its got to be the JLA. They are slightly more powerful overall and definitely have more experience. It would be close but the JLA would win in the end.

Unless you count the X-Men having Pheonix on their side. That changes everything.

I'm sure Prof X can put up a good fight as well as Jean Grey against Superman... but JLA has the Martian so he might be able to cancel them out. JLA wins!

Many people would say the JLA because they have Superman. But for those people I have to say that yu forgot that the x-men have both Rogue and Proff. X. If rogue is unable to touch him then Xavier can mind control him to take him out of the fight and even hurt himself.

Lets be serious its depends who's fightin who I know alot of people sayin Superman, Wonder woman, Batman, Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern they all good but they have to face da likes of JeanGrey or da Phoenix alone could wipe out everyone and eat Superman remember da Phoenix is A cosmic entity that eats da sun. With that alone there's Superman. Oh Batman would go up against Wolverine remember 2 things both are good batman with his brains and fight skills oh sorry Wolverine have superior fight skills as well and adaminum who not after to go besek and kill ok a close match with Wolverine winnin on healin factor. Martian Manhunter against Xavier ok manhunter can beat Xavier to a pulp but remember he's da best at da mind games xavier thats if he don't turn evil again. Wonderwoman might when against any woman have a close one with Rogue. And green lantern against hmmm thats a tough one .
