She might have personal issues/past experiences that leave her scared to open herself to another person. Love is a scary thing, it leaves you open to being hurt, vulnerable.
I can say I'm emotionally detached and I like it that way. I can point out the exact reasons/experiences to why I act that way.
All you can do is try the best you can and be PATIENT. If she pulls away know that its not you, but she's just fearful.
Good luck.

Many, many people are afraid of love. 80% of all human decisions are made out of fear. that's why the decision to love someone or allowing oneself to be loves is 80% scary!!
The reason is many. Many people grow up being neglected, not having their needs met, not getting enough attention, affection, they grew up in a hostile environment, they only had one parent at home, there are many reasons for this fear.
The only thing that one can do to "unscare" themselves is to learn that despite what happens in love, they will be okay.
The innate fear comes from a person feeling as if they will die. Sounds drastic but it's basic psychology. We feel "OMG, if i get my heart broken, I will die". What the reality is is that "if they get their heart broken, they don't have the proper emotional tools to put it all into perspective". So really, it all boils down to changing one's thought patterns and simply saying "I'll allow myself to be loved cause if it doesn't work out, i'll be just fine".

Maybe she's not scared of love maybe she is scared of the outcome of love. How much does love really cost some one and not in a money stand point? How far would you go for her because you love her????? Would you leave your life and move for her and drop everything???? Maybe she is afraid of what you'll give up for her love.

This would be more psychological. For one thing, the woman could have gone through serious trauma in past relationships, lost someone they loved and or not been able to recover since a lost loved one.

She's probably been raked through the coals in the past. Do her a big favor, if you know you dont care for her please let her go and dont make it worse for her. Each time it gets harder. Try to understand that she is scared and show her everyday that with you she doesn't need to be.
