Going to those sites are good first steps, but there is more to finding the value than that.

First off, keep in mind that after scarcity, the biggest factor in determining the value of any card is it's condition. What might look to be "fine" may actually have many defects to the serious collector. You'll really need to examine the card for centering, sharpness, and lack of bends, marks, and creases. Most of those websites and magazines should have guides to help you determine the current condition of each card.

Once you've identified what the condition of the cards are, you can decide if you want to keep them or sell them. If you are interested in selling them you need to realize that whatever those magazines and websites say the card is worth will have little effect on what you may actually be able to sell them for.

When selling them, your best bet is probably to try and find someone yourself to buy them. Taking the cards to a store will probably net you only about 20% of their worth because the retailer will have to assume the cost of selling it to someone else (protection, storage, and any costs associated with marketing the card's availability.) You might get more, but they will most likely try and offer you between 10-20% for the card.

My advice for selling cards if you're not a retailer or renting a table at a card show would be for you to use eBay. You've got the best chance of finding someone who is interested in the card who would be willing to pay the price you're going to ask for.

Good Luck

They are websites that cater to baseball trading cards or you could get one of those Beckett magazines, usually found in sporting goods stores or collectors stores, which list the price of baseball cards and other sporting cards

Are you that desparate for cash that you want to sell your son's baseball card collection? Or are you just curious? Either way there are websites to go to and you can actually call comic book stores and they'll tell you who to contact.

There are a couple of publications you can get at your local card shop, or magazine rack. One is named Becketts Guide, it shows almost every card ever made.
