My son knew over 200 words at 2 years old, two weeks after his birthday he stopped talking. His dad had to move out but we are still together and I was also 4 months pregnet. Its been almost ayear now, and he still won't talk. He will be 3 soon. What should I do?

Until he can understand why his father moved out, he might stay inside his shell. You should take him to see a child therapist to work out this problem....he might feel it is his fault and you must reinforce that it is not his fault. Since he was such a chatterbox before the seperation I think that with therapy and time he will open up again. You must understand he is just a small child and does not understand human behavior.

I hope you've seen a pediatrician about this. Emotional reasons aren't the only cause of suddenly not talking any more in a toddler. There are physical problems that can manifest as well.

If you haven't seen your pediatrician about this, do it right away. Be on the lookout for other behavioral changes as well.

i think that you should take him to a therapist mayb he won't talk so that you can pay more attention to him maybe he is just jelous of the comming baby and he was probably sad because his dad had to move out.
