Vincent by Don McClean. So sad. It's about Vincent Van Gogh.
"I could have told you Vincent, this world was never meant for one as beautiful as you" Ah, welling up just writing it!

"Saddest Song" by No Use For A Name. It doesn't make me cry or feel sad, but it is what you asked for. It is more "saddest song" than any other songs. The only way a song could be more "saddest song" is if the artist called it "More Saddest Song", or, even "The Most Saddest Song." But until then the most saddest song has to be "Saddest Song" by No Use For A Name.

(By the way, if you can't tell, I'm making fun of your poor grammar. Seriously, didn't you look at what you typed? Or do you actually talk like that? If so, how old are you? Eight? (If you are eight, I am reall sorry for making fun of you. Truly I am, but you really shouldn't be surfing the internet without your parents' supervision.)

The saddest song is "Sleeps Dark & Silent Gate", but quite frankly, the whole damn album really is just one fine four-hanky cryfest for me.

I'm talking about Jackson Browne's "The Pretender" album (1976).
He released that album following the suicide of his wife, Phyllis.

Talk about an anguished soul.
Song for song, these are personal stories that anyone can relate to and each is a gem in its own right.

Years later, I still relate to the lyrics:

"Oh God this is some shape I'm in
When the only thing that makes me cry
Is the kindness in my babys eye

Sometimes I lie awake at night and wonder
Where the years have gone
They have all passed under
Sleeps dark and silent gate"

There are tons, but the one that comes to mind is " The Death of Queen Jane." Its a classical song that tells of the queen in labor for 9 days (depending on the version of the song) and the husband having to deliver the blow that will both kill her and save their child. Its chilling and has a very haunting sound especially when done by a women's group (quartet or larger, but not full choir size.)

MY HEART WILL GO ON - Celine Dion

Every night in my dreams
I see you, i feel you,
That is how i know you go on

Far across the distance
And spaces between us
You have come to show you go on

Near, far, wherever you are
I believe that the heart does go on
Once more you open the door
And you're here in my heart
And my heart will go on and on

Love can touch us one time
And last for a lifetime
And never let go till we're one

Love was when i loved you
One true time i hold to
In my life we'll always go on

Near, far, wherever you are
I believe that the heart does go on
Once more you open the door
And you're here in my heart
And my heart will go on and on

You're here, there's nothing i fear,
And i know that my heart will go on
We'll stay forever this way
You are safe in my heart
And my heart will go on and on

BECAUSE OF YOU - Kelly Clarkson

I will not make the same mistakes that you did
I will not let myself
Cause my heart so much misery
I will not break the way you did,
You fell so hard
I've learned the hard way
To never let it get that far

Because of you
I never stray too far from the sidewalk
Because of you
I learned to play on the safe side so I don't get hurt
Because of you
I find it hard to trust not only me, but everyone around me
Because of you
I am afraid

I lose my way
And it's not too long before you point it out
I cannot cry
Because you know that's weakness in your eyes
I'm forced to fake
A smile, a laugh everyday of my life
My heart can't possibly break
When it wasn't even whole to start with

Because of you
I never stray too far from the sidewalk
Because of you
I learned to play on the safe side so I don't get hurt

Because of you
I find it hard to trust not only me, but everyone around me
Because of you
I am afraid

I watched you die
I heard you cry every night in your sleep
I was so young
You should have known better than to lean on me
You never thought of anyone else
You just saw your pain
And now I cry in the middle of the night
For the same damn thing

Because of you
I never stray too far from the sidewalk
Because of you
I learned to play on the safe side so I don't get hurt
Because of you
I try my hardest just to forget everything
Because of you
I don't know how to let anyone else in
Because of you
I'm ashamed of my life because it's empty
Because of you
I am afraid

Because of you
Because of you

Whiskey Lullaby (omg that is so sad)

She put him out like the burnin' end of a midnight cigarette
She broke his heart he spent his whole life tryin' to forget
We watched him drink his pain away a little at a time
But he never could get drunk enough to get her off his mind
Until the night
He put that bottle to his head and pulled the trigger
And finally drank away her memory
Life is short but this time it was bigger
Than the strength he had to get up off his knees
We found him with his face down in the pillow
With a note that said I'll love her till I die
And when we buried him beneath the willow
The angels sang a whiskey lullaby

The rumors flew but nobody knew how much she blamed herself
For years and years she tried to hide the whiskey on her breath
She finally drank her pain away a little at a time
But she never could get drunk enough to get him off her mind
Until the night

She put that bottle to her head and pulled the trigger
And finally drank away his memory
Life is short but this time it was bigger
Than the strength she had to get up off her knees
We found her with her face down in the pillow
Clinging to his picture for dear life
We laid her next to him beneath the willow
While the angels sang a whiskey lullaby

Last Kiss
Artist: Pearl Jam

Oh, where oh where can my baby be?
The Lord took her away from me
She's gone to heaven, so I got to be good
So I can see my baby when I leave this world.

We were out on a date in my daddy's car
We hadn't driven very far
There in the road, up straight ahead
A car was stalled, the engine was dead
I couldn't stop, so I swerved to the right
I'll never forget the sound that night
The screamin' tires, the bustin' glass
The painful scream that I heard last

Oh, where oh where can my baby be?
The Lord took her away from me
She's gone to heaven, so I got to be good
So I can see my baby when I leave this world.

When I woke up, the rain was pourin' down
There were people standing all around
Something warm rollin' through my eyes
But somehow I found my baby that night
I lifted her head, she looked at me and said
"Hold me darling just a little while."
I held her close, I kissed her our last kiss
I found the love that I knew I would miss
But now she's gone, even though I hold her tight
I lost my love, my life that night.

Oh, where oh where can my baby be?
The Lord took her away from me
She's gone to heaven, so I got to be good
So I can see my baby when I leave this world.
Oooh~ ooooh~

AUSTIN ... it is a C&W song whose singer I can not think of
Also IN THE GHETTO , Elvis Presley

Also, PEARL JAM is NOT the original artist for LAST KISS. That is an old song from the 50's

The little cloud that cried is also a good one
