I was there last summer, it is very beautiful, and if you are a professional looking for work you should not have a problem. If you speak the language (arabic, though others are spoken) it's a bonus, and of course if you understand the culture it'll be a bonus too. Otherwise, it's a mini western colony in a desert...very "exotic". Make sure to understand the 'power play' when you go :)

Dubai is one of the best cities I have been to in the world! It is beautiful and clean. It is a big melting pot. It is a very rich city. The malls are huge. It kind of looks like a mixture between Las Vegas and Los Angeles. People love their SUV's, mercedes, bmw's. I would live there if I had enough money. It seems like it is very safe. I have never had any trouble with the locals so far. Everything is cheap and you can find great deals on jewelry.

I'm from Dubai and I love my home country. It's amazing, we have big shopping malls, nice restaurants (you can find alot of cuisines). The beach is great as well. The only thing that is so not great that the weather is really hot during the summer.

I lived in Dubai for 7 years and it was great. Every place is what you make it. Rent is expensive but you can travel all over the region from Europe to Asia for cheap. And to the person who said the Americans are the worker class?!!? are you for real? what did you expect to be, a god? the people from the sub-contenant and parts of asia who work outside in the searing and clean you home for peanuts are the workers

I lve in Dubai (5 years) yes, it, very nice (beaches, shopping, weather etc) But theres also lots of snobby expats, who forget where they came from, predjudism, a huge prostitution problem (mainly russians and chinese) the worst drivers in the world, and greedy landlords who increase the rent everytime they sneeze. Oh, and people openly spitting in public places.

I am from there and I LOVE it, wouldnt want to live anywhere else! But be sure to come in winter our summers sre way too hot! When I started my car this morning the temperature was 40C

am from Dubai & i cant imagine myself living any place else if you love shopping you should come ... my advice for you to come in winter :)
