Too much TV makes for much ignorance.

Why can't TV show a more realistic image of black people? Oh, I know, if they told the truth, nobody would watch normal everyday folks doing normal everyday things in normal everyday ways, just like everyone else.

TV IS DEAD. TURN IT OFF.

I don't know what questions you are referring to, so i don't know the intentions behind them, but I would take a wild guess and say they really are just curious. In the politically correct climate that we live in, maybe this anonymous forum is the only place they feel comforable asking. Perhaps they've encountered some black people who went out of their way to make white people feel like they are clueless and stupid about the black race, so they want to learn more to avoid feeling stupid again. Just one way to look at it...

Another thing to consider is maybe they are not from an area that has a large black population...

As a black person I believe all questions were meant to be asked at some point.

No matter which race the question was for, a question needs an answer and there's only one way to get that answer.

The safest way to do that would be here so far.

If a person of another race came up to you and asked you a question you felt was stupid, what would you do? Would you call them racist, or stupid? Would you physically assault them for asking? It is natural for people to be curious about other people who are different from them. If they are asking because they are trying to educate themselves in your culture, then you should be happy they are making that effort. In this space, people can ask the questions they want answers to without the fear of repercussions from people like you. If they are asking because they are being ignorant and racist, then you have the option of reporting them for a ToS violation. In any case, by asking the question you did, you are being just as bad as the people you are slighting.

Some are just trying to learn and others are just being dumb.
I would rather have them ask the question here then do it in person and get hurt by someone.
Plus you have to understand there are parts of this country where blacks don't live and only image of a black person is seen on tv.

What is a question......unless you "ask" it........it's nothing more than a thought or a comment..........

You are basically doing the same thing --- asking a dumb question about white people.... you are stereotyping, just like the ones do, that bother you..........

I'm white and I've never been "race specific" with MY QUESTIONS...........

Just overlook them.........don't be offended.........just move on... same with questions about Religion, Politics, and other issues....

On behalf of all decent Caucasian people who frequent Yahoo! Answers, i would like to apologize to those people of African descent who have been offended by crass, insensitive, and offensive questions and comments by the gutter end of the pale-skin collective. Even though we can't feel exactly what you feel when you see things like that in print.....please know that it disgusts the hell out of us, too. I know i can't speak for all light-skinned people.....but still : i apologize for all the abuse from those of us too ill-bred, ill-educated, and full-bore *stupid* to know better. And for those who do know better, but still do it anyway.

(And that goes for everybody else they have offended, too. Sorry about the morons. With luck they won't breed, so the next generation will be better.)
