That's a hard question to answer, as you didn't mention how long you've known the guy; what type of relationship you've had with him; what things he likes; and how much you are willing to spend.
I'd say (just by what you've written) that you should not spend a lot of money - go for something of sentimental value.

Generally, someone you date will only remember you if you were nice, and showed them the real you. Giving someone a gift--such as a watch and so on--really isn't a way to get them to remember you. If someone can only remember you by you giving them a gift, then you shouldn't really care if they remember you.
