it is a mythical creature that looks like the last half of an alligator. they are harmless, since they consist of only a pair of legs and a tail. the ator's counter-part, the allig, is much more dangerous because the front end is where the teeth are!

Ator is a character featured in four European movies made in the 1980s. Three of the films were directed by Joe d'Amato; Ator was portrayed by Miles O'Keeffe in three of the four films. He first appeared in the 1982 film Ator l'invincibile, which was released as Ator, the Fighting Eagle in the United States. Next, in 1984 Ator appeared in Ator l'invincibile 2.

I'm afraid I need a little more information to give you any sort of answer... what field of study are we talking about? The only mention of "ator" I can find are the three below, that of a character in a series of really bad Italian sci-fi movies back in the 1980's ("Ator the Invincible"), the name of a planet in some sort of sci-fi game, and a guy who calls himself Joseph Ator who writes about science and theology.

the "a" is added sometimes to "-tor"..
the "ator" or "tor" is a suffix to the english language to signify a person doing something specific e.g. demonstr-ator demostrates a demonstration. a crea-tor creates a creation.

it appears to be a series of very bad european made fantasy movies from the 1980's. it is also a suffix in english . demonstrator etc. did you mean atol/ which is a type of coral reef island?
