It's people stereotyping because it is country music. I know plenty of people in this world who listen to country music and they are the farthest thing from rednecks.

It might be stereotyping leftover from the days "Hee Haw" was on TV. But I think if people started analyzing country music they would start to appreciate how long it takes to write a song, arrange it, market it, or memorize it to sing it, plus all the practicing that goes on - every bit as much or more than any other genre of music. I am impressed at how clever country music writers are. Besides, has anyone actually tried to learn a country accent? It takes a good ear to get it right if you did not grow up with it. It's all in the vowels.

Well some crossover country appeals to a lot of different people, but when a song is about getting drunk, your truck breaking down and your dog dying, it just kind of makes people think of red necks.

because those people are the biggest audience, sorry but sometimes sterotypes are accurate.

I only know one person who wouldnt ever be considered either of those and listens to country, and he also eats door-mice so I think that should tell you a lot about his personality, lol.
