At some point (NY to LA for example) driving is eliminated as a real option.
Other than those extreme cases, I've always found it cheaper to fly if it is just me. If it is 2 people, it is often pretty much a wash and the deciding factor is whether I will need a rental car or other transportation once I get to my destination.
With 3 or more people, almost always better economically to drive, even if a night in a hotel is included in the driving costs.
But I guess this all depends on those places you generally travel to. Others may find different results if their trips are different, longer or whatever....

From a person that goes on road trips all the time for school, I woul defininitely say flying. You can sleep on the flight, you don't have to worry too much about other stupid people in the air like you do on land.
The only problem is it gets expensive for flying, but then again, gas isnt all that great for price either.
This is a hard one.

if you want it fast: flying.
if you want to see the scenery: driving.
Most cases driving is less expensive than flying. You make the math. But it can get very boring and dangerous if you drive alone. If we are talking about 2 people and up, driving becomes a serious option: more fun, second driver to give a break to the first one and it's usually less expensive than 2 air tickets, even if you rent the car!

It really all depends on how much time you have to spend getting there & back + time spent at the destination, how far it is, if you're doing the drive by yourself or have a co-driver, how much money you have to spend on food & hotels, etc.
Personally, when time allows, I prefer to do the roadtrip thing and see stuff along the way. In a time-controlled situation however, I will fly.

Depends on how much time you have on your hands to travel, if you got leisure driving is more fun, flying will just save you time. At least that's how I look at it. And the more I fly, the more I hate it so I know what you mean.
Which ever you choose, good luck and have fun!

It depends on how far you are going and whether you have time to drive. I'd rather fly myself -- anything over 8 hours driving is a drag to me.

It depends. How far a distance? Anything less than 500 miles is a tossup. More than that, I'd fly.

depends. if you're just visitng, flying is probably cheaper and it's a lot faster. however, if you're talking about moving, or hauling a good portion of stuff, I'd suggest driving, because overall, it's probably more cost efficient and you don't have to deal with movers. I've done both.
