I am 25 years old and we have been trying for a baby for over 5 years. I have extremely irregular cycles also and I went to a doctor right away. The doctor prescribed me two medications: medroxyprogesterone and clomid. I was able to conceive within (I believe) 6 months. I have not ever carried a child to term but that has nothing to do with the medications. If your only problem is the conception, this may help. If you are like me, I am sorry. I have been tested and tested, poked, prodded, and jabbed for 5 years with no solutions. I wish you all the best and hope that your problems end with going to a fertility doctor!

Not having a period could be a indicator of something more serious. You dont state whether youre overweight for your age and height or whether you have a low bodyfat percentage. Amenarhea is when professional female athletes stop having periods because their bodyfat is too low. The fact that "doctors can not fgive" you an answer as to why youre not having a period makes me think you need to find better doctors.
They should be looking for why you stopped having periods. Your Fallopian tubes could be blocked or you could have a shifted ovary. You could be anemic or borderline anemic.
Even women on the Pill still have periods. Fix THIS problem, THEN worry about getting pregnant.

Dont stress about it. It practically took me two years to get pregnant but i am now pregnant. Once i stopped worrying about getting pregnant i did. It really does work. Try not to think about sex as getting pregnant but as in having fun. Stress doesnt help a bit. TIP: my mom told me to stick a pillow under me once we stopped . i did i am not sure if that is how i got pregnant but you never know!!! good luck .. i hope that it happens for you soon.
Fuel up on folic acid

I am sorry to say that it sounds like you have done what you can to this point. Since it has been over a year, I would see a fertility doctor so they can do whatever tests and give you more advice, etc. I am sorry that you are having trouble - I hope the doctor can give you some answers.

If you do not have a period you are probably not ovulating. The doctor should be able to help you. Go to a fertility specialist and see what they have to say. The consultation and initial test should not cost too much.

If I were you I'd go to the Doctor. I had the same problem. Ask him to test you for signs of PCOS. Poycystic Ovarian Syndrome. For more information, go to this site. http://www.webmd.com/hw/womens_conditions/tw9104.asp
If its had to remember the full frase, print out that page. :o) Good luck. I have PCOS. Your symptoms sound a lot like mine. I had incredibly long intervals between periods. And it means you aren't ovulating.

To get pregnant you must have sex on a day that your eggs are being released.
After the 3rd day from the day that menses started put a thermometer into your mouth and check your body temperature every morning before you start turning in bed. The best time is at about 4 a.m. Maintain a chart. You will find that on one day the body temperature drops from 1/2 degree to one degree. This is the day that your eggs are being released. If you want to get pregnant this is the day that you must have sex. Tell your husband to ejaculate on his inward thrust so that the sperms will shoot deep inside.
After having sex you must stay in bed for about 30 mins with your knees bent up with a pillow under your buttocks so that the sperms will not pour out - to enable them to travel up.
Get your husband to save his sperms in the testacles for at least 5 days before sex to enable them to mature well to do their job.

hi there it looks like your in the same boat as me? but if you been to the dr. they should of done bloodwork to check for pcos, because i don't have cycles either and i wen t to the dr. had everything done, pap smear, bloodwork, std's check, pelvic ultrasounds for cyst etc. it came back as pcos that's the reason why you don't have periods, so my dr. put me on clomid because i'm trying to get pregnant too! and i take metformin for the pcos, and folic acids so i already done had 1 baby and trying for #2 so it can happen with the right medical treatments, i say get a new dr. and ask them to run tests on you since you are trying to get pregnant?

You need to see an endocrinologist, a specialist in hormones. I am very surprised that your gynecologist hasn't sent you to one with a condition like that, you must have a terrible doctor.

I agree that it sounds like you are not ovulating. Do you have any symptoms of PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome?) Might be something to explore.
