Yes, the wrong configurations of chips on a ram module can have power requirement that don't match your motherboard. There are multiple versions of the ram module,for example, pc3000 ddr ram. They have different chip configurations on the module. Some of those configurations are considered to be really cheap quality or performance.

As long as you get ram with a configuration of chips that the motherboard supports, there will never be a problem.

A good tip:If you manually set the speed of your ram in the bios, you will have less problems with computer gliches. Motherboards are really bad at setting the speed automatically.

As long as it fits in the slot you should be ok. If you have 2 sticks of RAM running at two different speeds the computer will throttle one back so they are the same. Some people report minor glitches sometimes with different speed sticks but I've never had any.

Also, in case you want them, tigerdirect.com and newegg.com are 2 places to get some good, cheap RAM.

yes. it may destroy your homeboard. anyway the homeboard will say that the ram module is wrong
