I have downloaded a bunch of songs onto my laptop. It doesn't have a cd burner. I thought I could just transfer the songs to my desktop and burn them from there. But, I am getting a message that says this computer is not authorized to burn these songs. What do I do?

Not really sure.

How old is your computer?

Did you buy the songs from iTunes straight into your computer?

Does it have FireWire connections?
If so, and you have a friend with an Apple with a CD burner, link the two computers, transfer the songs and burn from there.

Apple will authorize up to five computers to hold the same downloaded songs.
From what you say, this doesn't sound normal.

Ah, the joys of DRM. On the desktop machine, try installing iTunes (if not already installed) and set it up to use the same iTunes Music Store account as your laptop. It should then link both machines to you, verifying that you're the owner of that music. You're allowed to authorise a limited (5?) number of machines in this way. There is also a corresponding option in the program to deauthorise the machine, if you're selling it for example.

Or, try converting them to a different format before you transfer them. However this can sometimes lead to a loss in quality.

Login to your iTunes music store account on your desktop and you will then be able to authorize your computer to play and burn those songs. That is assuming of course, you haven't used up all your authorizations.
