"The movie isn't true to the comics" misses the point. It's not supposed to be! Comic books have decades of material to draw upon and a movie has to fit within 90 to 150 minutes. The fact that some characters switched sides in the movies from their status in the comics doesn't make the movies any less appealing. The goal of XMen 3 (or is it X-Men 3?) is to introduce the comic characters to a wider audience. It usually doesn't work the other way around, die-hard fans to the contrary.

As to specifically why Psylocke got switched to the bad guys, I offer two possibilities. 1) She and Jean Grey are both telepaths; introducing a person with similar powers on the heels of Jean Grey's apparent demise from the 2nd XMen movie would have smacked of imitation, a movie's kiss of death. 2) Since the XMen are the main characters of the movie, it was a numbers game; even in the Brotherhood, Psylocke doesn't qualify as a main character in the sense of being a standout in terms of ability or appearance, unlike Wolverine, Beast, Colossus, and other XMen who had already been established by the first two movies.

So, Psylocke fans, it's nothing personal that your favorite heroine became a villain. Chalk it up to the strings behind movie magic.

and why was Marrow a man? why was Juggernaut a mutant? why wasn't Angel an original Xmen? The movie is just that and not exactly true to the comics. Wolverine's supposed to be under 5 foot for the love of Pete!
BTW, Psylocke did turn japanese in the comic after she was sucked into a votex that destroyed her british body

Actually, nothing in the x-men movie 3 was anything like the comic books. They really screwed it all up and the movie bombed in that order. But as a movie just to be a movie with out the marvel connection, it was okay.

Because the movie doesn't corrolate with the comic books. I suppose that she just sounded "cool" with the movies writers, and they threw her in. Might as well ask why an anglo of Briitsh decent is being played by a filipino.... The movies exist on their own, and not part of the Marvel Universe.

The Fox movies do not correlate with the original comic storylines ... do not try to question everything the movie messed up on or your head will explode and little bits of blood and brain will decorate the nearest wall.
