Ehh, some would point to a certain poster here (the one who said you had no hope) and assume that America never *had* a mind to lose in the first place. :) When you consider how much we piss and moan about spending one penny more for public schools, and how popular it is to *publicly be stupid*, like every Adam Sandler film is, or every "Porky's" film was....well, there might be a point here.
Nonetheless, I will submit instead that America hasn't lost its mind so much as it has thrown away its *conscience*.
Do the searches your own self, look at what Ronald Reagan *really* had to say about the U.S. Economy and Brazil in the *first year* he was in office....then note how poor and desperate most folks *are* in Brazil.
Trust me, that whole "Greed is Good" culture, that whole "let's let the rich guys own EVERYTHING" attitude, it's long since become a cancer that is killing Western Civilization....and it has been for the past 26 YEARS and counting.

You're wrong. There's still hope.
He cannot end abortion, rap music, or "gays". (I don't even see how one can end gays unless genocide would be to occur; and then I don't think Cheney would be too thrilled to have his daughter knocked off, no matter how much he agrees with Bush.) A president cannot make any decisions that effect a nation in such a way. He can certainly suggest and have his own beliefs, but the courts cannot just nod their heads and sign.
They won't end abortion because then females will go back to doing it themselves which is extremely dangerous and life-threatening to the mother as well as the soon-to-be-dead-anyway fetus.
He cannot end a person feeling homosexual feelings for another, the Supreme Court (or any court, for that matter) would not be able to look at that in a rational sense. Homosexuality is not legal; it is not pedophilia or bestiality, and it still will occur. If a ban passes that disallows same-sex marriages from being legal, and marriage from other countries not being recognized, then there would be no quite settling down in agreement from a slowly growing group of the nation who are beginning to feel threatened enough to speak out.
A marriage ban on same-sex would not go down like prohibition did. People would fight it all the way until it eventually gets lifted. (And just look at prohibition. It was lifted after a few years. No need to not be patient, eh?)
As for ending rap music... dude, that's just "WTF". He's not going to end a style of music. Seriously. That's just plain stupid.
Bush is not a dictator. Look up the word and research some REAL dictators. Bush is just another president. Not all of them have been perfect and not all of the people have agreed with their views.
Normally America is the first to change with Europe and the other continents following suit. Now it's just switched. While they are becoming more accepting to homosexuality, America is still struggling because of the strong religious nuts that are beating the ground with their walking canes.
However, the nuts are old and dying. The upcoming population of children are becoming more and more accepting of others and the ideas around them. More are viewing the Bible as a good book for morals, but a bad book on a few of the things it mentions disliking. Rap music, abortion, and gays are all here to stay.

Yes you are wrong. Bush is not a Dictator because he was elected. As for minimum wage, I haven't had a minimum wage job since high school. I have never heard Bush say any ting one way or the other about Rap music but I have listened to it and was appalled by the lyrics. What I could understand was degrading to women (Where is the NOW gang on that?) and drugs and killing cops (not what I want my kids listening to) As for Gays well I don't really care one way or the other about them. They should be protected under the constitution the same as the rest of us. I don't support the Constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage because marriage is not a constitutional issue it is a state issue. Come to think of it I don't see where the government gets off telling employers what they can pay their people if you don't like your wages get a different jobs. Funny how Liberal crybabyness melts in the light of truth.

Ever great dream can be destroyed by men pretending to be great.
The dream of America was lost many years ago. We still live in a wonderfully country, but Europe has finally proved it has more sense than us. Gone are the days we could poke fun at our backwards friends. Now we are the objects of ridicule.
There is always hope as long as you're willing to stand up and fight. However, if we won't even vote, then I doubt anyone will fight. The problem with this country is that the radical right actually votes, and the rest of us don't.

There is some hope, but you must understand that the powers that be want chaos. That goes for Dems and Reps (some debate they are the same thing now).

If we sit on our laurels we will be sitting on piles of ash while China awakes to be the biggest kid on the block. Then we can look to them for aid and yell at them for stomping all around the world doing whatever they want. United We Stand Divided We Fall.
